Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) to set up a dedicated ‘Hydrogen Innovation Centre’ in collaboration with IIT Madras and Guidance Tamil Nadu, with backing from the Government of Tamil Nadu.

Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IITM), in collaboration with Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) and Guidance Tamil Nadu, has announced a new Hydrogen Innovation Centre at the Tamil Nadu Investors Conclave 2024 in Chennai. Supported by the State Government of Tamil Nadu, this facility aims to become a hub for innovation in hydrogen technology. The Hydrogen Innovation Centre will span 65,000 square feet within the IIT Madras Thaiyur campus, situated on the outskirts of Chennai.

The Hydrogen Innovation Centre is anticipated to be fully operational by 2026, with the potential to drive the comprehensive development of the hydrogen ecosystem in India. The partnership seeks to fast-track the development and adoption of a hydrogen ecosystem in Tamil Nadu and across India. The forthcoming Hydrogen Innovation Centre, a collaboration between Hyundai Motor India Limited, IIT Madras, and Guidance Tamil Nadu, aligns with HMIL’s commitment to establishing Tamil Nadu as a hub of automotive innovation and advancing the shared vision of pioneering alternate fuel technologies.

The virtual ground-breaking ceremony was led by Thiru M. K. Stalin, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, with the presence of Dr. T R B Rajaa, Hon’ble Minister for Industries, Investment Promotion & Commerce, Government of Tamil Nadu, Arun Roy (IAS), Industries Secretary, Mr. Vishnu (IAS), Managing Director of Guidance Tamil Nadu, Gopalakrishnan Chathapuram Sivaramakrishnan, Whole-time Director and Chief Manufacturing Officer of Hyundai Motor India Limited, along with senior officials from Guidance Tamil Nadu and other state government dignitaries.

Speaking on the announcement, Gopalakrishnan Chathapuram Sivaramakrishnan, Whole-time Director and Chief Manufacturing Officer (CMO), HMIL, said, “Hyundai Motor India Limited remains committed to being a strategic partner in Tamil Nadu Government’s vision of building a sustainable ecosystem for transition towards alternate fuels. We are hopeful the upcoming hydrogen innovation centre will accelerate hydrogen mobility adoption in Tamil Nadu. HMIL will be investing INR 100 Crores towards facility construction at the IIT Madras Thaiyur campus in Chennai. In line with our global vision of ‘Progress for Humanity’, this facility will serve as a key enabler to advance hydrogen as an eco-friendly, emission-less future source of propulsion for mass-mobility solutions.”

Q:   Is IIT JAM difficult?

A:

Experts share that the IIT JAM exam is difficult to clear. This is not because the difficulty level of the questions asked is very high but because the selection ratio through the IIT JAM exam is low. However, this does not mean that the questions asked in the exam are very easy.

Q:   Is BTech available in IIT Madras?

A:

Yes, a full-time four-year BTech course is available at IIT Madras. Admission to this course is completely entrance-based. Candidates can pursue BTech course across various popular specialisations, including Aerospace Engineering, Aerospace3 Engineering, CSE, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, etc. IIT Madras BTech admission are offered on total 1,195 seats through a common admission process. Candidates are selected based on valid JEE Main, followed by JEE Advanced scores.

Q:   Is IIT Madras good for Masters?

A:

 Yes, IIT Madras is good for Masters' programme. During IIT Madras placements 2022, the highest package offered was INR 22 LPA. On the other hand, the average package stood at INR 13.98 LPA.
