IIIT Allahabad offers MTech in biomedical engineering
Admission to MTech in biomedical engineering against 20 seats will be done through Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) from July 2023 session.
BTech and MSc students from the Indian Institute of Information Technology Allahabad (IIIT-A) will now be able to study MTech in biomedical engineering. The institute administration has designed a new MTech course and has released the notification.
According to institution administration, admission to MTech in biomedical engineering against 20 seats will be done through Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) from July 2023 session. Candidates can visit the official website of the Department of Applied Sciences (www.iiita.ac.in) to get more details about the program, The Times of India reported.
According to Registrar IIIT-A, Satish Singh, apart from BTech, candidates with MSc Computer Science, MSc Electronics, MSc IT will also be able to take admission in MTech Biomedical Engineering. The new MTech course covers subjects such as biomedical instrumentation, Bio-MEMS and microfluidics, medical imaging, biomaterials, biomechanics and bioinformatics, etc.
It may be mentioned that in 2012, the institute introduced a 5-year Integrated MTech in Biomedical Engineering. However, in 2015 the five-year integrated MTech course in Bio Medical Engineering was discontinued by the institute due to ‘unavoidable circumstances.
The programme has now been rejuvenated as a two-year Mtech Biomedical Engineering programme at IIIT-Allahabad designed to provide students with a strong comprehensive understanding of the interdisciplinary field that combines principles of engineering, medicine, and biology.
