IIIT Delhi Hosts Design Summer School 2024 for HCI and Design Thinking Enthusiasts

IIIT-Delhi hosted the Design Summer School 2024 in collaboration with the Department of Human-Centered Design (HCI), the Center for Design and New Media (sponsored by Tata Consultancy Services as part of the TCS Foundation Initiative), and the Design Innovation Centre. The sessions, spanning five days, were meticulously crafted to offer an immersive exploration of HCI and user experience design. Engaging talks and interactive workshops formed the backbone of this comprehensive journey into the field's myriad facets.

The event drew participants from across the country, representing prestigious institutions like Amity University Noida, KIIT University, GGSIPU, Accurate Institute of Management and Technology, and Delhi Technological University. The program commenced with an inspiring opening ceremony that featured esteemed guests and thought leaders in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI).

The highlights of the ceremony included a keynote address by Prof. PVM Rao from IIIT Delhi on "Design Thinking & HCI," and a dynamic panel discussion on the "Relevance of HCI in Our Future," featuring Prof. PVM Rao along with Ms. Sangita Garg from TCS, an expert in data strategy, transformation, and social innovation, along with Prof. PVM Rao moderated by Dr. Richa Gupta (HoD-HCD, IIIT Delhi).

Day 1 emphasised the intricacies of the Design Thinking process. Day 2 was exclusively dedicated to delving into Interaction Design Theory. Day 3 was centred around the captivating world of Gaming and Animation Design. Day 4 entailed an in-depth exploration of XR (Extended Reality) technologies. Finally, Day 5 was dedicated to the dynamic field of Human-Computer Interaction enhanced by AI.
