IIT Bombay, LTI collaborate on Satellite & Space Technology Program

IIT Bombay and Larsen & Toubro Infotech Limited (LTI) are collaborating on ambitious programmes in Satellite and Space Technology at the Institute. These include establishing the Student Satellite Program, developing modular satellite subsystems, and integrating them into a nanosatellite.

The project will partner with the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) with the ultimate goal of launching the nanosatellite into orbit. The project also envisions raising awareness of space-grade technology and advancing the study of space science among school and college students in India. The project will be based in India.

The project will facilitate the growth of satellite technology by providing resources for fabrication, testing, prototype development, and procurement of satellite equipment. It will organise and participate in conferences and conduct workshops to disseminate knowledge and increase awareness of space programmes in the country, as stated by Alumni and Corporate Relations of IIT Bombay.

The Student Satellite Program is committed to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) set by the UN. Specifically, the programme will focus on SDG 4 which ‘Ensures inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all’, and SDG 9 which will ‘Build resilient infrastructure, promote inclusive and sustainable industrialization and foster innovation.’
