With an impressive overall score of 79.1 out of 100, the institution has reaffirmed its commitment to academic excellence on the international stage.

In the latest release of the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings by Subject for 2024, IIT Bombay has made significant strides, securing the 45th position in Engineering and Technology globally, marking a notable improvement from its previous ranking. With an impressive overall score of 79.1 out of 100, the institution has reaffirmed its commitment to academic excellence on the international stage.

IIT Bombay, a leading name in academic circles, has also secured ranks in four out of five broad subject areas covered by the QS rankings, including Engineering & Technology, Natural Sciences, Social Sciences and Management, and Arts and Humanities. Notably, the institution has improved its performance from the previous year, climbing two places in Engineering and Technology.

The breakdown of rankings further highlights the institution's prowess across various disciplines. In Computer Science & Information Technology, IIT Bombay secured the 64th position, while it excelled in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence at 30th place. The institution also showcased its strength in Civil & Structural Engineering (42nd), Chemical Engineering (64th), Electrical & Electronics Engineering (63rd), Mechanical, Aeronautical & Manufacturing Engineering (57th), and Minerals & Mining (25th).

The QS rankings delve into various parameters to evaluate academic institutions comprehensively. Notably, IIT Bombay has shone in several aspects. In terms of Academic Reputation, the institution's standout performance was in Mathematics, where it scored 79.6. Moreover, in Employer Reputation, IIT Bombay garnered significant recognition in Engineering – Mineral & Mining, earning a notable score of 96.2. The institution's citations per paper were highest in Engineering – Mineral & Mining, securing an impressive score of 88.0. Additionally, IIT Bombay's H-Index, a crucial indicator of research impact, received a commendable score of 80.5 in Engineering – Mineral & Mining.

Expressing his delight at the institution's performance, Director Prof. Subhasis Chaudhuri attributed the success to the dedication and hard work of students, staff, and faculty members. He emphasized the institution's potential for further growth, stating, "I am confident that IIT Bombay is capable of reaching even greater heights in the coming years."
