IIT Delhi, Queensland University Joint PhD Programme Admission

IIT PhD Programme Admission: The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IITD) and University of Queensland (UQ) are offering a joint PhD programme through the UQ-IITD Academy of Research (UQIDAR). The PhD programme will support scholars across diverse discipline areas. Interested candidates can fill up the UQIDAR application form till March 15, 2024.

Who can apply for Joint PhD Programme Admission? 

UQIDAR aims to train students under the joint PhD programme, with supervision provided by professors from both UQ and IIT Delhi. Students will have the opportunity to study in both India and Australia. Indian and international applicants, excluding Australian citizens, will be considered for admission as i-students. They will commence their studies at IIT Delhi for the first year before continuing for one year or more at UQ. They will then conclude the remainder of their studies at IITD.

Australian domestic applicants will be considered for admission as q-students. The q-students will start their studies at UQ for the first year before proceeding for one year or more at IIT Delhi. They will have to complete the rest of their studies at UQ. Indian nationals and international applicants, excluding Australian citizens, will be eligible for scholarships as i-students.

Scholarship Package for IIT Delhi, Queensland University Joint PhD Programme Admission? 

In Year 1 (at IITD), eligible students will get a monthly stipend of Rs 41,000. In Year 2 (at UQ), they will be provided with an annual stipend of A$ 32,192. For 3 and 4 year (back at IIT Delhi), they will receive a monthly stipend of Rs 45,000. 

They will also get a relocation grant of A$5200 to support travel between Delhi and Brisbane. During their second year in Brisbane, they will be provided with overseas student health Cover (single policy). The UQ tuition fee will be waived for the Indian students.
