IIT Dhanbad Introduces B.Tech in Math and Computing, Admissions via JEE Advanced

IIT Dhanbad Admission: From 2024-25 session, the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT, earlier ISM), Dhanbad is set to inaugurate B.Tech program in Math and Computing. This four-year course aims to delve into the realms of mathematics and computational sciences. Admission into this program will be facilitated through the JEE Advanced.
The Department of Math and Computing at IIT, Dhanbad will orchestrate this comprehensive course, intertwining theoretical understanding with hands-on practical applications. This decision was made during the assembly of the Board of Governing (BOG) at IIT Dhanbad. At present, the department administers a comprehensive five-year integrated M.Tech program in Mathematics and Computing.
Considering the inclination of the students towards this course, the Board of Governing of the institute has decided to start a four-year B.Tech course in Math and Computing. Chaired by Prof. Premvrat, the BOG meeting saw the presence of key figures including Prof. JK Patnaik, the Executive Director, Prof. Dheeraj Kumar, the Deputy Director, and other esteemed board members.
This initiative seeks to equip students with a multifaceted skill set, encompassing mathematical theories and their computational implementations. The curriculum is meticulously designed to foster a nuanced comprehension of mathematical concepts coupled with the prowess to apply computational methodologies to solve intricate problems.
Following the initiation of the BEC (Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Computing) course for BS-MS from 2025-26, the institute's Board of Governors has determined to introduce another comprehensive program: the five-year integrated Bachelor of Science, Master of Science course, commencing from 2025-26. Spearheaded by the Chemistry Department, this course is designed to encompass Biology alongside Physics and Chemistry in its curriculum.
