IIT Gandhinagar celebrates foundation day 

IIT Gandhinagar celebrated 15 glorious years of its foundation on August 5. Ms Rita Teaotia, IAS (Rtd) and former Chairperson, FSSAI, was the chief guest for the Foundation Day celebrations. Several other distinguished guests also graced the occasion.

The event also included an exhibition gallery that highlighted the transformation of the Institute over the last 15 years through an interesting display of posters, photographs, and rangolis.

The student cultural council organised various other activities, including competitions for short stories, slam poetry, art, and meme-making. The evening ended with enthralling dance, musical, and theatrical performances presented by students, faculty and staff members of IITGN.

"The Foundation Programme, IIT Gandhinagar for the BTech students of 2023 batch kicked off to an exciting start on August 1. Ms Annie Joyce V, Deputy Director General, UIDAI, was the chief guest for the inaugural session of the Foundation Programme. Ms Joyce delivered a talk based on her long experience with building digital public infrastructure in India. Prof Rajat Moona, Director, IITGN, also addressed the students and their parents during the inaugural event. 

This four-week-long flagship programme of IITGN is packed with several thrilling workshops and sessions focusing on the holistic development of students," said the official statement.

IIT Gandhinagar MTech student awarded Khorana Program for Scholars 2023 fellowship

Safya Nasir, MTech student, Biological Engineering, has been awarded the Khorana Program for Scholars 2023 fellowship. The Khorana Program aims to foster dynamic and transformative student exchange between premier institutions in India and the US.

Safya is currently affiliated as a visiting student at Massachusetts Institute of Technology for three months, where she is working on a project titled ‘Modeling combinatorial cancer mutations using multiplexing prime editing’.

At IIT Gandhinagar, Safya is working under the mentorship of Prof Bhaskar Dutta, Associate Professor, Chemistry (Jointly with Biological Engineering).
