IIT Gandhinagar introduces winter admissions for international PG students

The admissions will begin in January 2022. Interested students can apply at iitgn.ac.in/admissions/international_student/ by December 10, 2021. 

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Gandhinagar has invited applications from international students for its postgraduate programmes in engineering, science, and humanities and social sciences. Interested students can apply at iitgn.ac.in/admissions/international_student/. The last date to apply is December 10, 2021.  

The institute has invited applications for the winter session for the first time. Earlier, international admissions were limited to first semester, which begins in July. Institution has decided to provide this additional opportunity to the international candidates in view of the "different graduation deadlines in other parts of the world," said IITGN. 

IIT Gandhinagar stated: “International students may apply online to degree-granting postgraduate programs across several disciplines through its PG international admissions portal: iitgn.ac.in/admissions/international_student/. The institute offers PhD and MTech degrees in Biological Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Earth System Science, Materials Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering; PhD and MSc degrees in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Cognitive Science; PhD in Humanities and Social Sciences; and MA in Society and Culture. The last date to apply in these programmes is December 10, 2021.” 

Scholarships, financial aid for international students at IIT Gandhinagar 

The institute also offers multiple scholarships and financial aid for international students, including fully paid PhD fellowships, international student fellowships, tuition awards, tuition fee waivers, and travel awards. Special scholarships are also available for students from SAARC (South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation) countries.  

Sevgi Demiroglu, a resident of Turkey and one of the international alumnus of MA programme at the institute, said, “IIT Gandhinagar gave me a safe and friendly environment to pursue my studies and its interdisciplinary nature has improved my skills and knowledge to be much better in my field.”
