To begin with, the institute has first called all PhD or dual degree students, including those undergoing course work and BTech, BDes final-year students. 

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati is recalling students in a phase-wise manner. To begin with, the institute has calling all PhD or dual degree students, including those undergoing course work and BTech, BDes final year (2018 batch) and earlier batches between February 19 and March 10, 2022. 

As per a release issued by the institute, MA, MSc, MTech, MDes and MS(R) final year (2020 batch) and earlier batches will be called between February 23 and March 10, 2022.  While MA, Msc, MTech, MDes and MS(R) first-year (2021 batch) students will be called between February 28 and March 10, 2022, those in BTech, BDes third and second year (2019 and 2020 batch) and BTech and BDes first-year (2021 batch) students will be called in the last phase, i.e. between March 14 and March 20, 2022. 

The institute said in a statement, “Only the students eligible for registration for the current semester are permitted to return. The students should fill in their arrival details in the return portal and plan their travel to reach the campus as per the schedule.” 

Full vaccination mandatory for returning students 

It stated, “It is recommended that the returning students be fully vaccinated and should produce their vaccination certificates upon arrival. If a student develops any symptom during the stay, he/she should inform the medical section, get tested and undergo isolation as per the protocol.” 

On-campus learning essential for overall development of students 

The institute has on-campus testing, isolation, and vaccination facilities. The medical section of the institute follows the standard protocols for COVID-19 care and treatment. It has developed methods to uphold academic excellence during digital learning. However, on-campus learning and interaction with peers seem essential for the students' overall development and mental health,” the institute added.
