IIT Jammu launches BTech in Mathematics and Computing
Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Jammu has launched B.Tech in Mathematics and Computing with an aim to address the growing demand for professionals skilled in both Mathematics and Computer Science. The newly launched programme allows students to personalize their learning experience by offering a plethora of electives from various domains and to explore their specific areas of interest and kindle their passion for specific topics. Recognizing the intricate connection between Mathematics and the booming fields of Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), and Data Science (DS). As per the TOI report, The official spokesperson of IIT Jammu said, "The main objective of the course is to empower young minds to contribute to its revolutionary advancements." "The B.Tech in Mathematics & Computing program is a four-year course designed to equip students with a comprehensive understanding of the interdependence between Mathematics and Computer Science."
He added that the Students would delve into diverse areas such as statistics, real and complex analysis, and optimization techniques. "Simultaneously, they will receive a robust education in fundamental computer science topics essential for their chosen field."
"Aspirants need to have cleared their Class XII or equivalent examinations from a recognized board, with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, a language, and an additional subject apart from the aforementioned four and the selection process will be based on the valid rank obtained in the JEE (Advanced) National Entrance Exam 2022, IIT Jammu added . He further claimed that the career prospects for graduates of this program are vast and promising as the program serves as a launch pad for young minds to shape the future of AI and contribute to its transformative power across various industries.
