IIT Kanpur invites applications for 5-day course on python

The course, which will be taught in a blended format through live lectures, pre-recorded videos and live question and answer sessions, will be conducted from November 19 to 25, 2021. 

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur has invited applications for a five-day online course on practical numerical methods using python.  According to the institute, the course will not be purely theoretical since a major portion of it will be dedicated to encouraging students to solve problems. Any difficulties in solving the exercises will be addressed through real-time interactions with the institute’s teaching assistants. Basic elements of python programming and numerical algorithms, including its implementation, will be covered. 

The course will be taught in a blended format through live lectures, pre-recorded videos and live question and answer sessions. Each day will consist of two hours of lectures followed by three hours of supervised problem solving on prutor.ai with appropriate breaks in between. Slides and video recordings of the lectures will also be provided to the participants. 

Students will be evaluated based on a final quiz and a small python project. Certificates will be given based on merit at the completion of the course. 

Course fee and other details 

The course will be conducted from November 19 to 25, 2021, and the registration fee for IIT Kanpur students is INR 2,950, whereas for non-IIT Kanpur students, it is INR 2,500. The application fee for IIT Kanpur faculty is INR 5,000, whereas for non-IIT Kanpur faculty, it is INR 5,900.
