IIT Kanpur receives Rs 41 lakh donation from alumnus for Medical School
An MoU was signed between Sutwala family and IIT Kanpur to support the establishment of a bay within a general ward allocated for poor patients covered under different government health schemes
The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur alumnus, Gopal Sutwala and his family have donated Rs. 41 lakhs to support treatment of patients from the economically-weaker sections at the upcoming Yadupati Singhania Super Speciality Hospital of Gangwal School of Medical Sciences and Technology at IIT Kanpur.
An MoU was signed between Sutwala family and IIT Kanpur to support the establishment of a bay within a general ward allocated for patients covered under different government health schemes with the 500-bedded Yadupati Singhania Super Speciality Hospital.
The Gangwal School of Medical Sciences & Technology is one of the most innovative projects of IIT Kanpur where future innovations in medicine and healthcare will be driven by technological interventions.
IIT Kanpur alumnus Gopal Sutwala said, “I wanted to support the treatment of the poor. I am happy that such a project is coming up here in Kanpur and it needs to be supported.”
Prof. S. Ganesh, Deputy Director, IIT Kanpur, said, “We are thankful to Mr. Sutwala and his family for their generosity towards such a noble cause. This contribution is certainly going to help needy patients who come from lower socio-economic background.”
