The Uttar Pradesh Government has earmarked a substantial fund of Rs 10 Crore in its latest State Budget 2024-25 for the Gangwal School of Medical Sciences and Technology at the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IITK).

Established with a vision to integrate medical and technical education, IIT Kanpur's Gangwal School of Medical Sciences & Technology, along with the Yadupati Singhania Super Speciality Hospital, aims to revolutionize healthcare delivery through cutting-edge research and advanced care facilities.

Expressing gratitude for the state's support, Prof. S. Ganesh, Director of IIT Kanpur, emphasized the transformative potential of the Gangwal School in aligning with the nation's vision of development and healthcare excellence.

Prof. Sandeep Verma, Professor In-Charge of the Gangwal School, highlighted the commitment to maximizing the impact of the allocated funds on infrastructure projects, setting the stage for further collaboration and development.

The funding opens doors for grants and collaborations at the state level, paving the way for the launch of various academic programs and flagship projects, including the Hridyantra initiative for the development of an affordable artificial heart.

The forthcoming 500-bed Yadupati Singhania Super Speciality Hospital is poised to provide accessible healthcare to patients from across the state, bolstered by support from national health schemes.

The Gangwal School's state-of-the-art facilities, coupled with contributions from global IIT Kanpur alumni and corporate partnerships, underscore its status as a pioneering project set to elevate Uttar Pradesh as a hub for medical innovation and research, ultimately enhancing quality of life for its citizens.
