Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IITK) wrapped up the 10th edition of the 3 day Annual Conference of Cognitive Science (ACCS-X), a pivotal event in India's cognitive science realm. Held at the Department of Cognitive Science and under the auspices of the Association for Cognitive Science (ACS), the conference featured captivating discussions and talks delving into the mechanics of the human mind and brain.
ACCS stands as a leading annual conference spotlighting diverse cognitive science research from India and beyond. The 10th edition, backed by the Department of Science & Technology, Government of India, and steered by the Association of Cognitive Science, united a dynamic community of researchers, encompassing students and faculty, specializing in Cognitive Psychology, Neuroscience, Computer Science, and Linguistics.
The event saw participation from faculty representing numerous institutions across the country, such as IIT Delhi, IIT Bombay, IIT Gandhinagar, IIT Bhubaneshwar, IIIT Hyderabad, IIIT Delhi, Centre for Behavioural and Cognitive Science at the University of Allahabad, University of Hyderabad, National Brain Research Centre in Manesar, Haryana, NIMHANS in Bengaluru, and IISc Bengaluru, among others.

The opening day ended with a presentation by event sponsors, Sanki - Tobii, unveiling their groundbreaking portable eye-tracking device. This innovation allows researchers to conduct real-world eye-tracking experiments, freeing them from traditional lab setups.
On the second day of ACCS-X, student presentations delved into the intricate link between emotions and cognition. Two sessions focused on cognitive disorders and intervention strategies, offering comprehensive explorations of these conditions and discussing potential interventions, offering hope and guidance for those impacted.
On the third day of ACCS-X, discussions on cognitive control included presentations by researchers nationwide, fostering engaging dialogues. Prof. Anindita Bhadra from IISER Kolkata presented captivating insights on the human-canine symbiotic bond from her Dog Lab, offering a fresh view on interspecies relationships and their cognitive roots. Additionally, a student-led session on social cognition displayed various methodologies unraveling the complexities of this captivating field.
The final talk session of ACCS, focused on creativity and aesthetics, provided in-depth explorations into these realms. Researchers from diverse institutes shared their work, captivating the audience with insightful findings and engaging responses.
During the Valedictory Session, awards were conferred for the Best Oral Presentation and the Best Poster Presentation, established in memory of the Late Professor V S Chandrashekhar Pammi. Professor Surampadi Bapi Raju from IIIT - Hyderabad, who served as the PhD supervisor of the late Prof. Pammi and hails from the Centre for Behavioural and Cognitive Science at the University of Allahabad, presented these honours.
