IIT Madras and IITM Pravartak Introduce Free IT Training for BSc and BCA Students in Karur/Coimbatore

IIT Madras and IITM Pravartak are offering a free 3-month physical training program for BSc and BCA students in Karur and Coimbatore. Check the last date to apply for the IT training programme here

IIT Madras Pravartak Technologies Foundation has launched a new initiative to provide students with industry-ready technical skills for free. The 3-month training programme will be held offline focusing on 'Hire-Train-Deploy' model on IT/Infrastructure and Helpdesk Support. The IT training programme is available to students in Karur and Coimbatore.

The last date to complete registration is June 12, 2024. The training programme will focus on IT/Infrastructure and Helpdesk support. This initiative is part of Lightstorm's CSR efforts (www.lightstorm.net/).

IITM Pravartak Training Programme

The training program will begin in the first week of July 2024. Interested participants can register at the following link: https://forms.gle/7RhAKgrGRgwr17zd6. Those who graduated in 2023 or 2024 with a B.Sc. (in Computer Science, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Biotechnology) or a BCA, and have a minimum aggregate of 60%, are eligible.

This will include Networking Essentials, Cloud Fundamentals, Ticketing Tools, Linux and Windows Basics, Storage and Backup Fundamentals and Soft Skills. IITM Pravartak will select the students for the training program to impart industry-ready skills in the above tech skill areas. The summary of the programme are:

• Training is free and the duration of the IT training is 3 months
• No stipend will be paid to the students
• This will be a classroom-based training programme
• Course content - Networking Essentials, Cloud Fundamentals, Ticketing Tools, Linux & Windows Basics, Storage & Backup Fundamentals and Soft Skills
• Benefits - Skill the students to enable them to join the IT Support team of any small-size or mid-size organisation
• Placement assistance will be provided through mock interviews and campaigns highlighting students’ availability. However, there is no guarantee

Highlighting the importance of this initiative, Prof. Mangala Sunder, Professor Emeritus, IIT Madras, said, “We are committed to impart skilling for rural youth to enable them for jobs. This initiative is to provide a comprehensive training experience that prepares participants to deliver exceptional support and service to customer. This program is designed to equip with the necessary skills, knowledge, and tools to handle a wide range of technical and customer service issues efficiently and effectively.”

IITM Pravartak Technologies Foundation is a Section 8 Company housing a Technology Innovation Hub on Sensors, Networking, Actuators and Control Systems. It is funded by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, under its National Mission on Interdisciplinary Cyber-Physical Systems and hosted by IIT Madras.
