IIT Madras Starts Registration For BS Degree in Data Science and Applications, Check Eligibility Here
IIT Madras has released the application form for admission to the BS Degree in Data Science and Applications for the January batch. Interested candidates can apply online at IIT Madras website till January 14, 2024. Know who are eligible to apply here
The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras has started the online application window for admission to BS Degree in Data Science and Applications for the January batch. As per the dates announced, candidates can fill out the BS Degree in Data Science and Applications online form till January 14, 2024. The entrance exam is scheduled to be held on February 25, 2024.
IIT Madras launched the first four-year Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Data Science and Applications with options to exit earlier in the foundation, diploma or BSc degree level. There is also the flexibility to exit at any level.
Based on the courses completed and credits earned, the learner can get a Foundation Certificate from IITM CODE (Centre for Outreach and Digital Education) or Diploma(s) from IIT Madras or BSc Degree in Programming and Data Science from IIT Madras or BS Degree in Data Science and Applications from IIT Madras.
Who are eligible for a BS Degree in Data Science and Applications?
Those interested in this programme can check below the eligibility requirements for BS Degree in Data Science and Applications:
- Anyone who has passed class 12 or equivalent can apply irrespective of age or academic background. Those who qualify can join the programme immediately
- School students who have appeared for their class 11 final exams can apply irrespective of their group/ stream/ board. Those who qualify can join the programme after passing class 12
- Candidates with a diploma recognised by AICTE or a state board of technical education of at least three-year duration
- Any Public School/Board/University examination in India or in any foreign country recognised as equivalent to the 10+2 system by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU)
- Final examination of the two-year course of the Joint Services Wing of the National Defence Academy
- General Certificate Education (GCE) examination (London / Cambridge / Sri Lanka) at the Advanced (A) level
- Candidates with High School Certificate Examination of the Cambridge University or International Baccalaureate Diploma of the International Baccalaureate Office, Geneva
Also, candidates appearing for the most recent JEE Advanced are directly admitted to the foundation level. Those who wish to enrol through JEE-based entry will have to fill out a form available on the official website.
What after admission to BS Degree in Data Science and Applications?
After that, they will have to watch video content and submit weekly assignments for the first four weeks of the four foundational level courses – English I, Mathematics for Data Science I, Statistics for Data Science I and Computational Thinking. They further have to appear for the in-person quiz of four hours duration conducted at the end of four weeks of coursework covering all four courses.
