The Indian Institute of Technology Mandi (IIT Mandi) received the esteemed Green University Award at COP 28 in the UAE. The Institute was acknowledged and honoured for its wide-ranging dedication to sustainable practices and its all-encompassing approach to environmental initiatives. 

Globally, this acknowledgement was attributed to the esteemed CoP 28 platform. It stands as a testament to the collective hard work and dedication of the entire Institute community.

IIT Mandi is involved in environmental audits, advancing Green Audits, and advocating for vegetarian dining choices on campus. This encompasses evaluating the institution's environmental influence and measuring the net carbon footprint of its different units. The ultimate aim is to slash greenhouse gas emissions and attain zero carbon output within the coming decade. 

Furthermore, the institution aims to create a model framework for an eco-conscious campus and explore revenue generation through carbon trading. Bestowed by Green Mentors, a non-governmental organization granted special consultative status by the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) in the United States, this prestigious accolade recognizes IIT Mandi's dedication to sustainability.
