The four-year undergraduate programme is divided into eight semesters. Each academic session is divided into two semesters, i.e. July to December and January to May.  

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Patna has introduced a new Bachelor of Technology (BTech) programme with a specialisation in engineering physics. The four-year undergraduate programme is divided into eight semesters. Each academic session is divided into two semesters, i.e. July to December and January to May.  

However, students will study approximately seven to eight subjects every semester i.e. Electrical Sciences, Communicative English for Engineers, Mathematics 1, Engineering Drawing and others. Apart from this, students will have a variety of electives subjects to choose from.  

Eligibility criteria 

Admission to the BTech in Engineering Physics at IIT Patna will be done on the basis of JEE Advanced scores. Apart from this, candidates must also have passed Class 12 (or equivalent) from a recognised state or central board. Tuition fee for BTech in Engineering Physics is INR 1 lakh for the first semester. Besides, various other charges such as academic fee, hostel, food, transport, gymkhana are also added to the tuition fee. There is a complete tuition fee waiver for students belonging to SC, ST or PH categories.  

As per the information available on the official website, the four-year BTech programme in Engineering Physics will include Physics Fundamentals, Hands-on Workshop practices, Computational Techniques, Engineering Drawing, Environmental Science, Electronics, Mathematics and Chemistry.
