IIT Patna organises Videsh Niti Distinguished Lecture Series
The lecture was delivered by Ambassador Dinkar P Srivastava on topics entitled “Oil, Geopolitics and Climate Change”, and “Forgotten Kashmir: The Other Side of the Line of Control”.
The office of resources, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Patna, in association with the Ministry of External Affairs, organised the “India@75: Videsh Niti Distinguished Lecture Series”. The lecture was delivered by Ambassador Dinkar P Srivastava on topics entitled “Oil, Geopolitics and Climate Change”, and “Forgotten Kashmir: The Other Side of the Line of Control”.
IIT Patna Director Prof TN Singh welcomed Ambassador Dinkar P Srivastava and felicitated him with a shawl, momento and a sapling. Singh said students should have fundamental knowledge of India’s foreign policies in order to strengthen their inclusive development and give a strong voice on international forums.
Srivastava discussed the factors leading to oil crises and rate fluctuations in crude oil along with its impact on global market. Further, he discussed factors responsible for climate change and related issues as well as initiatives that may be taken to reach net zero emissions and decarbonisation.
The ambassador talked about the evolution of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) over the past seven decades while highlighting milestones such as the ‘tribal’ invasion in 1947-48, the Sudhan revolt in the 1950s, the Ayub era, the Simla Agreement, the adoption of an ‘Interim Constitution of 1974’ and the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
