IIT Patna placements: 34 students grab pre-placement offers; highest salary package Rs 54.5 lakh

The institute witnesses 78.9% increase in pre-placement offers (PPOs). Top offers varied between Rs 25 and Rs 53 lakh. 

Thirty-four students of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Patna have bagged PPOs till September which is 78.9 per cent more than last year’s 19 offers. Students graduating in 2022 have bagged job offers from several national and international companies in various sectors such as IT, finance, management and consultancy, core and analytics. The maximum pay package of the PPOs was Rs 54.5 lakh while other top offers varied between Rs 25 and Rs 53 lakh. The average package of the PPOs received so far is around Rs 24 lakh per annum.  

According to IIT Patna’s training and placement cell, six students have received PPOs from Google. Salesforce, a US-based cloud-based software company, has offered PPOs to two students while investment banking firm Goldman Sachs has extended PPOs to three students. The insurance and healthcare firm Optum has offered PPOs to seven students, Samsung Research, Bangalore, to three students, and Publicis Sapient has given PPOs to three students.  

Many students of IIT Patna who have done internships this summer (May’21 – July ’21) have received PPOsbased on their skills and hard work throughout the programme, read an official statement from IIT Patna.  

Kripa Shankar, Training and Placement Officer, IIT Patna said: “Institute is still awaiting PPOs of many more students and numbers will improve, added Dr. Jose V Parambil, Professor-In-charge Training, and Placement, IIT Patna. The full-time hiring of the 2022 graduating batch will pick up the pace from the month of October 2021. This year also the entire placement processes including PPT, Online Test and interviews will be held in virtual mode.”
