Indian High Commission officials meet IIT Madras on Roadmap for IIT Campus in Tanzania
Last month Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan held a meeting with his Tanzania counterpart for setting up an offshore campus of IIT in Tanzania
Indian High Commission officials from Tanzania today held a meeting with the Indian Institute of Technology Madras team on setting up of IIT campus in the African nation. There were discussions around the roadmap for setting up of IIT campus in Tanzania which is being mentored by IIT Madras.
Last month Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan held a meeting with his Tanzania counterpart for setting up an offshore campus of IIT in Tanzania. Pradhan said that it can be a hub for technology education in Africa.
Binaya Pradhan, an Indian Diplomat at High Commissioner of India, Tanzania sharing information related to his meeting at IIT Madras wrote on Twitter: “Had a productive interaction at IIT Madras with Director Prof. V. Kamakoti and other senior faculty members; discussed the roadmap for setting up of IIT campus in Tanzania which is being mentored by IIT Madras.”
India has announced to assist Tanzania with the IIT project. Dharmendra Pradhan earlier stated that India will put forward the support required for the implementation of the project and also shared India’s willingness to establish a 21st-century skill centre in Zanzibar.
