JEE Advanced 2024 Registration Delayed; Now to Start on This Date

JEE Advanced 2024 registration has been postponed. IIT Madras has updated the revised dates on the official website. Except for the registration dates, the schedule remains intact. Exam will be held as scheduled on May 26.

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras has rescheduled the registration period for the Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) Advanced 2024. The process will now start from April 27 and continue till May 7, with the candidates being allowed to pay the application fee till May 10. The earlier dates were April 21 to 30, which now stands revised.

Eligible candidates who clear the JEE Main 2024 exams can apply for the JEE Advanced 2024 exam through jeeadv.ac.in. However, the registration dates for foreign nationals have not been changed and they can apply from April 15 to 30. The application fee can be paid by May 6.

The JEE Advanced 2024 exam will be held on May 26. Paper 1 will be conducted from 9 am to 12 pm, while paper 2 will be held from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm. The admit cards for the exam will be available on the official website from May 17 to May 26, 2024.

The exam will shortlist the top 2,50,000 candidates of the JEE Main 2024, and they will be able to apply for the JEE Advanced 2024 to be considered for admission to the Bachelor of Engineering (BE) and Bachelor of Technology (BTech) programmes at top engineering colleges.

Why Did IIT Madras Postpone JEE Advanced Registration?

IIT Madras, the conducting body for JEE Advanced 2024, has delayed the start of registration without citing any reason. However, it can be speculated that the delay may be due to the pending release of the JEE Main 2024 result. As per the usual process, the registration for JEE Advanced 2024 can commence only after the release of the JEE Main 2024 result. 

The National Testing Agency (NTA) was scheduled to release the JEE Main result by April 21, which would have allowed JEE Advanced registration to begin as planned. However, it seems that the NTA may not be able to meet the deadline, prompting the decision to postpone the start of JEE Advanced registration. Candidates who are eagerly waiting for the JEE Main result can expect it to be released after April 21 but before April 27.
