JEE Advanced 2025 Attempt Limit Case Delayed Again, New Hearing Set for January 10

More wait for JEE Advanced 2025 aspirants as the Supreme Court has postponed the hearing on the JEE Advanced attempt limit till Friday. Read details below.

The Supreme Court has scheduled a hearing for Friday, January 10, to address the issue of the limit on attempts for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced. The bench, consisting of Justices BR Gavai and AG Masih, convened after 2 pm today, January 8, to deliberate on the matter but once again postponed the decision. Advocates representing the case have emphasised the confusion and uncertainty faced by students due to the decision made by the Joint Admission Board (JAB). Originally, the hearing for this case was set for December 20, 2024, but it has been delayed multiple times since then.

A group of 22 JEE aspirants filed a petition with the Supreme Court, challenging the JAB’s sudden reversal of its policy regarding the eligibility criteria for JEE Advanced 2025. On November 5, 2024, the JAB announced that students would be allowed three attempts at JEE Advanced. However, just 13 days later, on November 18, 2024, this decision was rescinded, and the attempt limit was reduced to two.

The petitioners are now seeking the court's intervention to allow students who completed Class XII in 2023 to be eligible for JEE Advanced 2025 with the original three-attempt limit. The students argue that the policy change has disrupted their academic plans and caused unnecessary hardship.

JEE Advanced 2025 Registration Set to Start on April 23

IIT Kanpur will be holding JEE Advanced 2025 on May 18. The registrations for the exam will start on April 23. Paper 1 will be held from 9 am to 12 noon and paper 2 from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm. Candidates must attempt both papers to be eligible for admission to the IITs. The JEE Advanced 2025 exam will be held across 222 cities in India and 2 cities abroad.
