Ayush Sharma, national in-charge, social media, NationaStudents Union of India (NSUI), has come out in support of JEE Advanced candidates who have been asking for a second attempt to take the exam.  Ayush Sharma took to Twitter to support students. He wrote, “#JEEAdvancedExtraAttempt की मांग कर रहे छात्रों को न्याय दो #ShikshaBachaoDeshBachao (Give justice to students demanding an extra attempt in JEE Advanced #ShikshaBachaoDeshBachao).”

As the candidates continue to speak for their demands, the hashtag “#JEEAdvancedExtraAttempt started trending on Twitter.  A large number of students have thanked Ayush for raising a voice for them. One student tweeted, “Thanks for supporting us #JEEAdvancedExtraAttempt,” while another wrote, “Thanks sir for supporting us #JEEAdvancedExtraAttempt @dpradhanbjp @iitbombay.”

According to rules, a student, who clears Class 12 exams, is allowed three and two attempts at JEE Main and JEE Advanced, respectively, including the year in which the student has passed his/her Class 12.  Aspirants have been demanding an extra attempt this year due to their studies getting affected due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The demand was made citing reasons that students could not attempt the exam as public transport was hit due to Covid-19 pandemic or they could not prepare well as coaching centres were shut and everything was online and they did not have devices or proper internet connection. Meanwhile, Twitter is strife with JEE Advanced candidates asking for an extra attempt. Check below the reactions of the students.

All those candidates who had successfully registered for JEE Advanced in 2020 but could not appear for the exam due to COVID-19 were allowed to directly reappear in 2021. They were exempted to re-qualify by writing JEE Main 2021. While JEE Main is conducted for admission to engineering institutes across India, JEE Advanced is held for admission to 23 Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) in the country. IIT Kharagpur conducted JEE Advanced this year.

JEE Advanced 2021 was conducted on October 3, 2021, in two shifts (9 am to 12 pm and 2:30 to 5:30 pm). As many as 1,41,699 candidates appeared in both papers 1 and 2 in JEE Advanced 2021. A total of 41,862 candidates qualified for JEE Advanced 2021.
