The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced the JEE Main 2021 Session 3 result today i.e. August 6. Along with the result, the biggest question in studentsβ minds is the NTA score and percentile same? This article by shiksha.com is the answer to studentsβ confusion after the declaration of JEE Main result 2021.
There are three terms to understand
- Raw score/ Raw marks
- NTA Score
- Percentile
Now Raw score /marks are the scores you got out of 300. Say that is 250.
But the NTA score and Percentile are Exactly the same numbers which indicate the percentage of students who scored less than or equal to your score, which is 250.
So, say, 100 students took the jee main and 9 of those students scored more than 250/300. In this case
- Your Raw score is 250
- Your NTA Score (or Percentile) is 91 (100-9).

NTA score is the percentile scores or positional rank of the students who have appeared for the JEE examination. The NTA score is calculated after applying the normalisation to the raw marks obtained by the students in session-wise papers against the multi-session. The calculation is done based on the relative performance of all the students who have appeared for the JEE examination.
On the scorecard, the percentile is mentioned under the label NTA score so they both are the same.
