JEE Main 2022: Education Ministry, NTA, IIT Board to meet next week for deciding exam dates

The Education Ministry will chair a meeting next week with NTA, AICTE, IIT Joint Admission Board for deciding the exam schedule of JEE Main and Advanced 2022.

The JEE Main 2022 aspirants are likely to get the information about the schedule of the exam and application process by the third week of January. In a fresh advancement, the Education Ministry will chair a meeting next week with AICTE, NTA, IIT Joint Admission Board and other experts in the field of Education and Health for deciding the schedule of JEE Main and JEE Advanced 2022.

As per the latest news report, a Senior Education Ministry official has informed that β€œNTA had decided to organize JEE Main 2022 in four sessions and the schedule was to be released in December. However, the announcement of the exam schedule had to be delayed due to the third wave of COVID-19 and assembly elections in five states.”

β€œThe Education Ministry has decided to meet next week with the officials of NTA, AICTE, IIT Joint Admission Board, and other experts for deciding the JEE Main 2022 exam dates. Also, a new date for JEE Advanced 2022 exam will be decided. The Advanced exam was earlier scheduled for June 22”, said the official.

The other agendas which are going to be discussed in the meeting include a hike in the JEE Advanced 2022 registration fees for all categories. The IIT Joint Admission Board has proposed to hike the registration fees of General/OBC category candidates from INR 2800 to 3400, and that of SC/ST and PwD candidates from INR 1400 to 1700. The hike in registration fees of candidates from Non-SAARC countries from US Dollar 150 to 200 and for SAARC countries from US Dollar 75 to 100 has been also proposed.

Also, the IIT Joint Admission Board will look after the Indian Institute of Science application of admitting the students in its BTech Mathematics and Computing course through JEE Advanced score. The IIT Board has already approved the application of IISc and students will be admitted in the course through Joint Seat Allocation Authority counselling.

No Exam Centre Outside India
The Admission Board of IITs has decided not to conduct the JEE exam outside due to the worldwide spread of COVID-19. No exam centre outside India will be made for the exam and students have to select centres within India for appearing in the exam.

No Change in JEE Advanced 2022 Syllabus
The JEE Advanced 2022 exam will be conducted on the same syllabus as in the previous year. The change in the syllabus has been brought from the year 2023 and candidates who will be appearing in JEE Advanced 2022 has to prepare as per the syllabus of JEE Advanced 2021.
