JEE Main 2022 to be held twice; students worried as dates clash with board exams
While JEE Main 2022 Phase 1 is scheduled to be held from April 16 to April 21, phase 2 will be conducted from May 24 to 29. The last date to fill the application form for the JEE Main first session is March 31, 2022.
According to the official notice, the JEE Main 2022, which is also the qualifying test for the JEE Advanced for admission to the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), will be conducted in two sessions in April and May this year. While Phase 1 is scheduled to be held from April 16 to April 21, phase 2 will be held from May 24 to 29.
Candidates can visit the official website at jeemain.nta.nic.in to register themselves. The last date to fill the application form for the JEE Main first session is March 31, 2022. The exam will be held in 13 languages – Assamese, Bengali, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, Urdu, Hindi, English, and Gujarati.
What official notice says
The official notice read, “Only one application form is to be submitted by a candidate for each session. Multiple application forms submitted by a candidate for the same session will not be accepted at any cost.” “Further, candidates are requested to fill in the application form very carefully. No corrections will be permitted once the application form is submitted,” it added.
Students demand exam postponement
As the JEE Main 2022 first session dates are clashing with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and state boards, students took to Twitter to express their concerns. A student tweeted, “#JEEMain2022 Our Jee Main Dates are clashing with our state boards (JHARKHAND) date . I request our education minister @dpradhanbjp and @DG_NTA to look into this matter and reshuffle the date of JEE Main 2022 (1st attempt). #JEEMain #NTA #stateboards,” while another tweeted, “Postpone jee main first attempt to may and second to June and advance to august.”
A user wrote, “Please I request NTA to postpone JEE MAIN 2022 (April Slot) as it will be very inconvenient for students who are appearing for board examinations #NTA #JEEMain #CBSE #JEE2022,” another wrote, “#PostponeJEEMain2022 JEE22 Aspirants spent 2yrs online with mere to no guidance, many of them couldn't prepare right due to covid. There are several boards happening across the country. CBSE students also have Term2 boards. Both the attempts of JEE Main sandwich Term2.”
Only those who have passed Class 12 or equivalent examination in 2020, 2021, or those who are appearing for Class 12 or equivalent examination in 2022, are eligible to appear for JEE Main 2022.
