Candidates aspiring to appear for Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main can heave a sigh of relief as the Ministry of Education (MoE) has decided to relax 75 per cent eligibility criteria for top 20 percentile scorers of all boards. These students will be able to seek admission in IITs and NITs based on their JEE Main score. They can also appear for JEE Advanced even if they have not scored 75 per cent marks in Class 12.

According to the JEE Main 2023 information brochure released by the National Testing Agency (NTA), apart from the All-India rank of the candidate in the national entrance test for engineering admissions, the aspirants are required to score 75 per cent and above in Class 12 or figured among the top 20 percentile candidates of the respective board in order to become eligible for admission. For Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe candidates, the qualifying aggregate score was declared 65 per cent and above.

JEE Main 2023 not postponed: Bombay HC

The Bombay High Court on Tuesday refused to postpone JEE Main 2023 Session 1 exam. Activist Anubha Srivastava Sahai had filed a petition seeking postponement of JEE Main 2023 Session 1. The plea stated that the Class 12 pre-board exams, viva voce of CBSE, ICSE and other state boards are scheduled to be held in January. The clash between JEE Main 2023 and Class 12 pre-board exams will result in less number of students appearing for JEE Main 2023 Session 1. The plea also mentions that the notification for the JEE Mains exam was issued on short notice and same would cause difficulties to students.

The JEE Main 2023 registration process will conclude on January 12, 2023. The first session of the JEE Main 2023 is scheduled to be held between January 24 and 31.
