In 2024, JEE Main registrations soared to 12.3 lakh, marking a significant increase of 3.7 lakhs compared to the session 1 of previous year. Maharashtra is leading with the highest number of registrations. There has also been a rise in registrations from female and third-gender candidates.

JEE Main 2024 Registration Updates: This year's Joint Entrance Examination Main 2024 set a new record with 12.3 lakh aspirants for the January session, surpassing last year's cumulative (January and April) registration by nearly 68,000. As per reports by Times of India, compared to the first session in 2023, there's an increase of 3.7 lakh applicants.

Female participation in the first session has also shown improvement, as has the number of registrations from the third gender. Maharashtra maintains its lead among states, followed by Andhra Pradesh. Notably, the number of test-takers in English is on the rise, while Hindi registrations have declined.

In terms of state-wise registrations, Maharashtra remains at the forefront with 1.6 lakh candidates, followed by Andhra Pradesh with 1.3 lakh and Telangana with 1.2 lakh applicants. All the three states have witnessed a substantial increase in candidate numbers compared to the 2023 exams. In 2023, Maharashtra had 1.3 lakh registrations, Andhra Pradesh had 1 lakh, and Telangana had 95,000. Check the table for better understanding:

JEE Main 2024 Registration: Check Gender-Wise Statistics 

In terms of gender, there's a slight improvement in female registration at JEE Main, accounting for over 33% of the total in JEE (Main) 2024, up from 30.8% in 2023. Additionally, the engineering entrance exam received the highest number of registrations from the third gender, reaching 19 applicants.

JEE Main 2024 Language-Wise Registration Statistics 

In terms of language preference, the number of test-takers in English has increased to 11 lakh, showing continued growth. Whereas, the number of examinees opting for Hindi has dropped to around 40,000. Gujarati records the third-highest number of registrations, reaching 16,731. JEE Main will be conducted in 13 languages: English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu. 

JEE Main 2024 Session 1 

The first session of JEE Main 2024 is scheduled to be conducted between January 24 to February 1. Today is the last date to make corrections in the JEE Main application form for session 1. The entrance exam is conducted for admission to undergraduate engineering and architecture/Planning programmes.
