JEE Main Counselling 2025: The JEE Main 2025 JoSAA counselling is over for all 6 rounds. Candidates can check their seat allotment results online using link on this page or from the JoSAA portal. Candidates who are allotted seats have to exercise freeze/float/slide option and confirm their admission. Also, candidates need to pay part admission fees within dates mentioned in provisional allotment letter. NTA do not conduct JEE Mains counselling. The counselling for JEE Main exam is done via the JoSAA counselling process.

The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) has released JoSAA 2025 round 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 & 6 opening and closing ranks. JEE Main Counselling 2025 Highlights

Candidates who appeared in JEE Main 2025 are eligible to participate in the counselling for admission to all the participating institutes of JoSAA through JEE Main scores. Candidates with a rank in JEE Advanced will be admitted to IITs through JoSAA.  Admissions to all 23 IITs, 31 NITs, 25 IIITs and GFTIs will be through JoSAA counselling. The allotment of seats will be based on choices filled by the candidates during JoSAA 2025 registration. Candidates must go through JoSAA eligibility criteria before appearing in the counselling process. Some important highlights of JoSAA are

  • JoSAA organises a combined counselling process for admission of JEE Main and JEE Advanced qualified candidates in IITs, NITs, IIITs and GFTIs.
  • The counselling for vacant seats after JoSAA counselling will be organised by Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB)
  • Supernumerary seats in colleges of the North East and Union Territories locations are allocated by special counselling CSAB NEUT
  • Central Seat Allocation Board will also conduct a separate counselling procedure CSAB SFTI for 18 Self Financing Technical Institutes (SFTIs).

Q:   Is there any age limit to apply for JoSAA counselling?
A: 

The age limit will be applicable as mentioned in JEE Main/JEE Advanced brochure and official website. There is no seperate age limit criteria prescribed for JoSAA counselling.

Q:   What documents are required to participate in JEE Main counselling?
A: 

To participate in the JEE Main counselling, candidates will need to upload the following documents at the time of JoSAA registration. Class 10 mark sheet/certificate, Class 12 Certificate of category (if applicable), PwD Certificate (if applicable). After the seat allotment, while reporting to the institute, candidates will also need to submit documents like JoSAA seat allotment letter, JEE Main/Advanced admit card, Gap Certificate (if gap after class 12).

Q:   What is the fee to participate in JEE Main Counselling?
A: 

There is no fees on registration of JoSAA counselling. You can register for counselling and participate without any fees but you will need to pay seat confirmation fees once the seat is allotted. Seat confirmation fee is different for various categories and paid online.

Q:   Can I participate in JoSAA counselling if I don't have 75% marks in class 12?
A: 

It is mandatory to have minimum 75% marks (65% for reserved category) in class 12 to take admission in IITs, NITs, IIITs and GFTIs. Students should apply for JoSAA conselling only if they fulfill all conditions of eligibility. However many institutes admit students on basis of JEE Main where there is no requirement of minimum marks in class 12. 

Q:   Is birth certificate compulsory for JoSAA counselling?
A: 

Yes. Birth certificate is needed to prove age in JoSAA counselling. But if you do not have the birth certificate, then you can upload Aadhaar card or Class 10 marksheet/certificate.

JEE Main Eligibility for Admission to Participating Institutes

The eligibility criteria for admission to various participating institutes will be released by JoSAA. Check the details below.

JEE Main eligibility for admission to NITs, IIITs and CFTIs, SFIs

The authority will offer admission to BTech/BArch/planning courses in the NITs, IIITs and GFTIs based on All India Rank (AIR). All candidates need to have minimum 75% marks in class 12 examination (for SC/ST candidates the minimum requirement is 65% in class 12). 

JEE Main eligibility criteria for BArch and BPlan admission

  • Architecture students have to pass the qualifying examination with 50% marks in Maths, Physics and Chemistry and 50% in aggregate of the qualifying exam.
  • For BPlanning candidates should have passed class XII or qualifying exam with 50% in Maths and 50% in aggregate of the qualifying exam.

JEE Main eligibility for other institutions

  • The above criteria will also apply to other Technical Institutions participating in counselling through JoSAA/CSAB.
  • In case a State opts to admit students to the engineering Colleges affiliated with State Universities, the State may prepare a separate rank list based on criteria decided by them.

Q:   Is a domicile Certificate required for admission to NITs?
A:

Documents Required for JEE Main Counselling 2025

The counselling of JEE Main is completely online and candidates need to register online on the JoSAA portal. Given below is a list of all the documents that are required for registering and participating in JEE Main 2025 counselling.

  1. Class X Mark Sheet/Certificate or Aadhaar Card or Birth Certificate (for Date of Birth)
  2. Class XII Mark Sheet and Certificate (Qualifying Examination)
  3. JEE Main 2025 admit card
  4. Certificate of category (SC/ST/OBC-NCL/GEN-EWS), if applicable, as per Government of India format, available on the JoSAA website, issued by the competent authority.
  5. Original Certificate for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwD), if applicable, issued by the competent authority.
  6. Original Certificate for persons having less than 40% disability and having difficulty in writing, if applicable
  7. Crossed Bank Cheque copy / Image of Passbook with bank account details
  8. Medical Certificate

During the process of document verification in JoSAA, if there is any mismatch between the document uploaded earlier by the candidate JEE Main registration site, JEE Advanced registration site and the document uploaded by the candidate on the JoSAA portal, the offer of admission will be withdrawn. The candidates shall be debarred from further rounds of seat allocation. Thus, the candidate will forfeit the eligibility for admissions to any of the institutes through JoSAA. The decision of JoSAA on this issue shall be final and binding.

JEE Main 2025 CSAB Special Round Counselling

CSAB conducts centralised counselling for four categories as mentioned below:

1. CSAB Special Round: For vacant seats after JoSAA final round for all NITs, IIITs and CFTIs across India. The Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB) will conduct two special rounds of JEE Main counselling. Candidates with a valid JEE Main 2024 score can participate in the special round of counselling.

2. CSAB NEUT: For supernumerary seats in NITs for Union Territories, and in some AICTE-approved institutes for North East and Union Territories (NEUT). CSAB counselling process will be conducted for 12 North East and Union Territories which includes Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Manipur, Nagaland, Sikkim, Tripura, Dadar & Nagar Haveli, Daman & Diu, Andaman & Nicobar and Lakshadweep.

3. CSAB Supernumerary: For the supernumerary round of counselling for Union Territories (UTs) of Andaman & Nicobar, Dadar & Nagar Haveli, Daman & Diu, Lakshadweep & Khandvi

Q:   When will CSAB counselling start?
A: 

The CSAB counelling is conducted after the compeltion of JoSAA. The dates of CSAB is announced after the last round JoSAA counselling at csab.nic.in. The counselling process will begin with the CSAB NEUT round, followed by the special round, and finally the supernumerary round. The schedule for the CSAB NEUT round, as well as the special and supernumerary rounds will differ.

Q:   Do the JoSAA registered candidates need to fill CSAB application form separately?
A: 

Yes, applicants who wish to particpate in CSAB have to register online from the CSAB official website as both CSAB and JoSAA are separate counselling processes. The document verification of such candidates will not be conducted again, as the documents are verified during JoSAA.

Q:   If a candidate has not participated in JoSAA counselling, will he/she be eligible to take part in CSAB counselling?
A: 

Yes, candidates who do not participate in the JoSAA counselling are eligible to participate in the CSAB counselling. Candidates must complete the CSAB counselling registration using JEE Main application number. After the registration process, the exam authorities will commence the document verification process.

JEE Main 2025 Counselling Procedure

The counselling of JEE Main 2025 consists of various processes. Candidates need to complete each step to participate in the counselling. The detailed procedure of counselling is described here.

Registration - Firstly, candidates have to visit JoSAA portal. Candidates who appeared in JEE Main 2025 or JEE Advanced 2025 need to register to participate in counselling. Below are instructions to fill JoSAA 2025 registration form online:

  • Visit official website of JoSAA
  • On login page, enter JEE Main 2025 application number, password and security pin.
  • Read instructions and click on the 'I Agree' option
  • JoSAA counselling form will be displayed
  • Fill form and click on ‘Confirm Registration’

Choice Filling & Locking: In second step, candidates will have to lock choice of college and course preferences filled by them. Seats will be allotted to aspirants based on their availability and choices filled. Below are steps of online choice filling and locking.

  • On the online form, select a choice of colleges and courses
  • Candidates can opt for edit/change/delete choices
  • After verifying, lock the choices
  • Candidates can lock their choices after each round of counselling

JEE Main 2025 Seat Allotment - Seats will be allotted to candidates based on ranks obtained in JEE Main /JEE Advanced. Candidates who are allotted seats need to exercise Freeze, Float or Slide option.

  • In case candidate selects Freeze option, allotted seat will be locked in name of candidate and he/she can not participate in future round counselling.
  • If Float option is selected, seat gets locked but candidates can also participate in future rounds
  • In case Slide option is selected, allotted seat gets cancelled and candidate moves to next round.

Payment of Seat Confirmation Fees - Candidates who selects Freeze/Float options have to pay seat acceptance fees online to confirm their admission, and upload scanned copy of their educational documents and category certificate (if applicable). After online verification of the documents and successful payment of fee, a provisional admission letter will be issued to candidates. Candidates have to download admission letter and check instructions mentioned in it for the balance fee payment, and date of reporting to allotted institute.

Q:   Is there any mock seat allotment in JEE Main counselling?
A: 

JEE Main counselling do have the provision of mock seat allotment. JoSAA will conduct a total of two rounds mock seat allotment where candidates can check which college they get based on the choice filled by them. Candidates after registering for the counselling have to enter their preferred choice of college and branch in the order of preference. The allotment of seats will be made on the basis of All India Rank and choices filled by the candidate.

  • Candidates will be offered admission based on the choices filled by them and JEE Main All India Rank (AIR) 2025 through JEE Main seat allocation process.
  • The candidates will be able to make their choices online for branches/programs and institutes at an appropriate time.
  • The verification of documents will be done at the time of the seat allocation process/admission.
  • During this process, the conducting authority will verify different records regarding age, identification, qualifying examination, state of eligibility, category and disability (if any) of the candidate.
  • Candidates who fail to produce any of the documents, will not be considered for admission.

No. NTA has not allowed calculators of kind - virtual or physical inside the JEE Main exam hall. Candidates must not carry calculators or any other electronic device in the JEE Main examination centre.
