JoSAA has released the NIT cutoff for various BTech courses offered at 31 NITs across India. Know here category-wise and institute-wise JoSAA opening and closing ranks for NITs such as NIT Trichy, NIT Rourkela, NIT Warangal, NIT Surathkal.
NIT-cutoff

NIT Cutoff is the minimum rank the candidates must secure for admission to BTech courses. Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) will release NIT 2024 cutoff scores after each round of counselling. The cutoff of NIT is released in the form of opening and closing ranks as per the candidate category. The cutoff scores of NITs will be different for all categories depending on various factors determined by the authority. All the engineering aspirants seeking admission into 31 NITs in India will have to score more than or equal to NIT cut-off scores.

Only the eligible candidates who have secured the minimum NIT cutoff marks can apply for admission to the respective institute as per their JEE Main 2024 ranks. National Testing Agency (NTA) conducted JEE Main twice. As per JEE Main 2024 exam date, the first session exam was held from January 24 to February 1 and the second session was conducted from April 4 to 12.

Q:   Is 75 percent marks in class 12 required for JEE Mains?

A:

Candidates need not have 75 percent marks in class 12 for appearing in JEE Main. As per the official brochure released by the NTA there is no minimum percentage required for appearing in the JEE Main. The requirement of 75 percent marks need not be associated with JEE Main. It is to be understood that 75 percent marks is required for admission to institutes which include NITs, IIITs, GFTIs and IITs. There are many institutes which offer admission on 60% and even less along with JEE Main. Candidates must clearly understand that the requirement of 75 percent marks in class 12 is only for taking admission in the institutes.

The cutoffs of NITs are released after the completion of each round of JoSAA counselling. The round-wise NIT cutoffs 2023 for BTech branches have been released by the JoSAA admission authority.

NIT Admission Process

With the declaration of JEE Main result, the institute-wise allotment of seats for admission to BTech courses is released by JoSAA. Firstly, candidates who fall within the JoSAA opening & closing ranks for the preferred college and course are shortlisted for admission. Secondly, shortlisted candidates must participate in JoSAA counselling process for seat allotment at the reporting institute for document verification and payment of fees. Candidates are called as per the JEE Main 2023 All India Rank (AIR) and availability of seats.

A. Candidates rank should be less than 10,000 to get into NITs. However, newer NITs accept candidates with a rank greater than 70,000 in JEE Main. The admission also depends on various factors inclusing reservation.
