NBA has given approval to MAKAUT for Undergraduate BTech programmes in Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) and Information Technology (IT) and Post-Graduate Engineering programme in Biotechnology.

MAKAUT receives approval for three engineering courses

Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology (MAKAUT) has received approval from the National Board of Accreditation (NBA) for offering three courses, according to the information received by PTI by a university official on Wednesday. The NBA has approved the courses for the academic session 2022-23, 2023-24, and 2024-25. NBA has given approval to MAKAUT for Undergraduate BTech programmes in Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) and Information Technology (IT), both accredited for three years, MAKAUT Registrar Professor Partha Pratim Lahiri told the media house.

Courses accredited up to 2028

While the two courses have received accreditation for three years, the Post-Graduate Engineering programme in Biotechnology has been accredited for six years. According to NBA, the course is accredited up to June 30, 2028. NBA has conferred accreditation for on the basis of several parameters such as excellence, remarkable placement record, and advanced research facilities. The varsity received the communication regarding the approval on June 6, 2022.

Considering that the process of accreditation is of quality assurance and improvement, hence, according to NBA, a programme in an approved Institution is critically appraised to verify that the Institution or the programme continues to meet or exceed the norms and standards prescribed by the regulator from time to time.

Initially, in 2001, the varsity started its functions are the West Bengal University of Technology. However, later it was renamed to Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology and has been functioning from its sprawling 40-acre campus at Haringhata.

Several in-house courses are also offered by the university, particularly in different cutting-edge areas of Engineering, Technology, Management, and Applied and Social Sciences.
