The MHRD has released the NIRF India Rankings 2020 for Overall, University, Engineering, College, Management, Pharmacy, Law, Architecture, and Medical categories on June 11. Read on to know more.

NIRF Ranking 2020: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras has been ranked as the top institute in the overall and engineering categories in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2020 Ranking. Union Human Resource Development Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank has released NIRF India Rankings 2020 today i.e. June 11.

Along with ' Nishank', Minister of State Sanjay Dhotre released NIRF Indian Ranking 2020 during a live conference. IITs have again scored top place in overall category followed by Indian Institute of Science Bangalore (IISc Bangalore) and the IIT Delhi.

In the Engineering category, IIT Madras is followed by the IIT Delhi and IIT Bombay, respectively. In 2019, IIT Madras was named as the best institute in the Overall category.

The number of applications received for the NIRF ranking 2020 increased from 20 percent as compared to 2019. NIRF ranking was started in 2015 and the first list of institutes/colleges was released in 2016.

In the NIRF ranking for all Indian education institutes and universities depends on various pre-determined broad parameters and categories. Some of these parameters are - Teaching, Learning and Resources, Research and Professional Practices, Graduation Outcomes, Outreach and Inclusivity, and Perception. This year about 3,800 institutes, colleges, and universities have applied for the rankings in different categories. Also, 2020 in the first year for ranking of Dental institutes.

NIRF rankings are awarded based on the following parameters - Teaching, Learning and Resources, Research and Professional Practices, Graduation Outcomes, Outreach and Inclusivity, and Perception.
