The NIRF 2021 rankings will be released in 10 categories namely - Overall, University, Management, College, Pharmacy, Medical, Engineering, Architecture ARIIA (Atal Ranking of Institutions on Innovation Achievement) and Law.

The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2021 that lists top Universities and institutions in India will be released today; i.e. September 9. The Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan will release the NIRF rankings in a virtual ceremony at 12 pm. 

The NIRF 2021 rankings will be released in 10 categories namely - Overall, University, Management, College, Pharmacy, Medical, Engineering, Architecture ARIIA (Atal Ranking of Institutions on Innovation Achievement) and Law. This year NIRF rankings will have Research Institutions as a new rankings, where institutions will be ranked based on their research activities.

NIRF Rankings 2021: Parameters and Weightage

Each parameter has a certain weightage and universities are evaluated out of a total score of 500. The broad categories adopted to rank the colleges, Universities and Institutions include Teaching, Learning and Resources, Research and Professional Practice, Graduation Outcomes, Outreach and Inclusivity and Peer perception.

The NIRF Rankings help students applying for admissions to various colleges to know if the institution they are choosing is up to the mark and can provide the quality education that they deserve or not. The NIRF Rankings help in narrowing down the search for the best colleges across the country as per the different courses under which students are looking for admissions.

NIRF Ranking 2020

Last year, too, the NIRF Rankings were released virtually owing to the COVID-19 restrictions. IIT Madras was ranked as the top constitution for the Overall and Engineering category, IISc Bangalore bagged the top position in the Universities category and Maulana Azad Institute of Dental Sciences was named as the best college in the list for best Dental College.

AIIMS Delhi topped the list for best medical colleges and NLSIU Bangalore topped in the best Law institution category. Under the Management category, IIM Ahmedabad topped the list while IIT Kharagpur topped the ranks for the Architecture category.
