UPES BTech student bags INR 50 lakh job offer from Microsoft

Madhur Rakheja who completed his BTech in computer science engineering with specialisation in oil and gas informatics from the UPES School of Computer Science has bagged a lucrative job offer from Microsoft. His father is a shopkeeper and mother a homemaker. He has got this offer after he rejected offers from big names including Amazon, Cognizant and Optum.

Madhur is now all set to join the Microsoft office at Bangalore and intends to become a better software developer.

“I had a list of companies in my mind in which I wanted to get selected. Microsoft was on that list, and I prepared for the selection process by reading about other people's interview experiences and learning the required skills. It was a campus placement,” said Madhur, as reported by India Today.

He had applied to many companies both on-campus and off-campus such as Amazon, DE Shaw, Optum, Cognizant, Infosys, and more.

“Of these, I received full time offers from Microsoft, Optum, and Cognizant and an internship offer from Amazon as part of the campus placements. Based on my performance in the internship, I have also received a full-time offer for the SDE role at Amazon,” he added.

“I have always been interested in technology and its potential to transform and impact millions of lives around the globe and I always wanted to be a part of something huge like this,” said Madhur.

He said he wanted to pursue computer science and someone suggested him to go for upstream petroleum engineering but he wasn’t sure about it as a career path and then he got to know about the specialisation in oil and gas informatics in computer science and chose this course.
