Union Minister of State (I/C) Dr. Jitendra Singh, while virtually inaugurating 8 new NIDHI i-TBIs across India and launching the new DST-NIDHI Website at IIT Delhi, commemorating 8 years of the Department of Science and Technology’s NIDHI initiative, stated that women-led startups will position India on the global stage in the coming years.

The 8 new NIDHI Inclusive Technology Business Incubators (i-TBIs) have been established at various locations across the country, including:

  1. Central University of Rajasthan, Ajmer
  2. Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana, Punjab
  3. BLDE University, Bijapur, Karnataka
  4. Aligarh Muslim University
  5. Pranveer Singh Institute of Technology, Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh
  6. Guru Ghasidas Vishwavidyalaya (Central University), Bilaspur
  7. GSSS Institute of Engineering and Technology for Women, Mysore, Karnataka
  8. University of Petroleum & Energy Studies (UPES), Dehradun

The i-TBIs, supported by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), are a three-year initiative aimed at fostering innovation and entrepreneurship within educational institutions, benefiting students, faculty, entrepreneurs, and surrounding communities.

Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh launched the DST-GDC IIT Madras INCUBATE Program for Deep Tech Startups, funded by IIT Madras alumni Dr. Gururaj Deshpande, Mrs. Jaishree Deshpande, and Mr. ‘Kris’ Gopalakrishnan. The initiative aims to support innovators, especially from Tier II & III cities, and provide crucial assistance to Start-ups at key growth stages.

In his address, Dr. Jitendra Singh recalled Prime Minister Modi’s guidance for the Startup India Stand Up India initiative, under which DST launched NIDHI in 2016. He emphasized the need to bridge the gap between academic research and industry, turning world-class research into market-ready products. He stressed the importance of early industry linkage for the success of startups and highlighted the transformative potential of technological advancements in AI, quantum computing, and new energy to shape the future of Bharat.

Highlighting the substantial economic success achieved reflecting the program's impact on India's growth and self-reliance. Dr. Singh said “Celebration of 8 years of the NIDHI underscores Prime Minister Modi’s commitment to empower Women entrepreneurs and extend financial inclusion”

Q:   Is IIT Delhi good for an MBA?

The Department of Management Studies (DMS), IIT Delhi, also known as DMS IIT Delhi offers a two-year MBA course at undergraduate courses in a full-time mode. Moreover, IIT Delhi also provide placements support. As per its 2023 placement report, the median package offered to PG (2-year) candidates was INR 12.50 LPA. Q:   How long is BTech in IIT Delhi?

A:

The duration of IIT Delhi BTech courses is four years. The full-time degree programme is divided into eight semesters. During the BTech course duration, the students have to do compulsory foundation courses in the areas of basic sciences, humanities, engineering sciences, and social sciences along with the departmental core and elective courses. Moreover, IIT Delhi offers internship opportunities to UG students, the duration of short-term internships is 1.5 to 2 months and is 6 months for long-term internships.

Apart from this, the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi also offer an integrated BTech and MTech programme. The duration of this dual degree course is five years against the standard duration of both the courses - BTech (four years) and MTech (two years).
