FORDA backs Rajasthan's resident docs protesting against service bond

Federation of Resident Doctors Association (FORDA) has written to the Union Health Minister regarding the doctors' protest in Rajasthan and said, "We stand with the protesting doctors' in Rajasthan." The Association has requested the minister to intervene in this matter.

The FORDA's letter reads, "The doctors have been repeatedly trying to ameliorate this by means of requesting a dialogue with the authorities for one month, to no avail. They're now left with no choice but to halt the routine services, indefinitely."

PG students who passed 5 months before are prime victims

As per the FORDA's letter the PG students of batch 2019-2022, who passed their speciality training about 5 months before, have been the prime victims of the bond policy. As per this policy, the new postgraduate doctors were to be appointed according to their qualification status in various posts. And the notice for the same was to be issued at least two months prior to their completion of the course. FORDA said, not only the instructions were not released on time, that is, before the completion of their course but the nature of their subsequent employment was also very random and sub-par with respect to their eligibility.

There are residents who haven't been posted anywhere at all and they are simply unemployed as their certificates are being detained by the institutions - barring them from looking for employment, added FORDA's letter.

The doctors' Association has urged the minister to intervene and take the necessary action.
