GMERS: 112 doctors get transferred to Porbandar, Godhra medical colleges
As many as 112 doctors of Gujarat Medical Education and Research (GMERS) have been transferred to Porbandar and Godhra medical college.
Gujarat Medical Education and Research has transferred as many as 112 doctors working at various medical colleges under it.
As per reports, GMERS ordered relieving letters to 55 doctors teaching at various colleges run by it and transferred them to the Porbandar medical college and the other 57 were transferred to the newly set up Godhra medical college.
These doctors were teaching at various medical colleges including Sola, Gandhinagar, Gotri, and Dharpur-Patan among others, as reported by TOI.
Moreover, GMERS transferred 79 resident doctors working in different medical colleges to the upcoming medical colleges which have vacant positions of senior resident doctors on which these doctors are being transferred. The doctors are reportedly not very pleased with the transfers and opine that instead of transferring doctors GMERS should appoint the doctors to the vacant position.
Five new GMERS medical colleges get in-charge deans
The five newly established medical colleges in Gujarat have got in-charge deans. As per reports, even the existing eight medical colleges under GMERS were being headed by additional charges given to professors instead of full-time appointments of deans.
Five doctors from other hospitals were given transfers as in-charge deans of the five new medical colleges and hospitals - Rajpipla, Godhra, Navsari, Porbandar and Morbi, as reported by Ahmedabad Mirror.
Dr Ashish Shah, Professor of Oby-Gn and his colleague Dr Sandeep Shah of Psychiatry, both from GMERS Gotri in Vadodara, were given charge as deans of GMERS Rajpipla MCH and GMERS Godhra, respectively. Dr DP Pandit of Physiology at Valsad was transferred as dean of GMERS Navsari MCH. Dr Neeraj Vishwas, Professor of Microbiology, and Dr Sushil Kumar of Physiology, both serving at the Junagadh medical college, were transferred as Deans of GMERS Morbi and GMERS Porbandar, respectively.
