Delhi University Gears Up for DUSU Elections 2024-25 with Enhanced Security and Guidelines
The DUSU elections for the 2024-25 academic year are scheduled for September 27, with the results to be declared the following day. Students must submit their nominations by September 19, and the final list of candidates will be published at 5 PM on September 20.
Delhi University is taking extensive measures to ensure the smooth conduct of the Delhi University Students Union (DUSU) elections for the academic year 2024-25. On September 18, 2024, Vice Chancellor Prof. Yogesh Singh chaired a meeting at the Vice-Regal Lodge to discuss and finalize key arrangements. T
Chief Electoral Officer for DUSU, Prof. Satyapal Singh, outlined the major points discussed in the meeting. A significant focus was placed on ensuring comprehensive security arrangements. DCP (Northern Zone) assured full police support to facilitate a secure and smooth election process. This includes deploying adequate police personnel and resources to maintain order throughout the election period.
Regarding candidate eligibility, it was emphasized that the guidelines set forth by the Lyngdoh Committee will be strictly followed. These recommendations provide a framework for the election process, ensuring fairness and transparency in selecting candidates for various positions within the student union.
In terms of the voting process, the elections at the college level will be conducted using paper ballots, with each college managing its own arrangements. For the DUSU office bearers' elections, Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) will be utilized, streamlining the process and ensuring accurate vote counting.
College Principals, Heads of Departments, and Deans have been advised to stay informed by following the instructions and notifications issued on the DUSU webpage. These updates will provide crucial information regarding the election procedures and any changes that may arise. Additionally, the university will make important contact numbers and relevant instructions available to all participants to facilitate effective communication and coordination.
All election-related inquiries and information will be handled through the DU Public Relations Office (PRO), ensuring a centralized point of contact for any concerns or questions. This approach aims to enhance transparency and ensure that the election process is conducted smoothly and efficiently.
