Pradhan, who also served as the Minister for Education and Skill Development & Entrepreneurship during the NDA Government's second term, took over the Education Ministry post-COVID era from Ramesh Pokhriyal.

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan will continue to serve as the Education Minister following his recent electoral victory from Odisha’s Sambalpur seat. Pradhan, who ran against Biju Janata Dal’s (BJD) organisational secretary Pranab Prakash Das, secured 5,92,162 votes, winning by a margin of 1,19,836 votes.

Pradhan, who also served as the Minister for Education and Skill Development & Entrepreneurship during the NDA Government's second term, took over the Education Ministry post-COVID era from Ramesh Pokhriyal. His return to direct elections after 15 years marked a significant political battle, reflecting the ongoing rivalry between the BJP and BJD. Pradhan’s political journey includes serving in the Odisha Assembly in 2000, the Lok Sabha from Deogarh in 2004, and the Rajya Sabha from Bihar in 2012 and Madhya Pradesh in 2018.

Following the swearing-in ceremony for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s historic third term, the new Union Cabinet held its inaugural meeting. Key assignments include Rajnath Singh as Defence Minister, Amit Shah as Home Minister, Nitin Gadkari handling Road Transport and Highways along with Chemicals and Fertilizers, and Nirmala Sitharaman continuing with Finance and Corporate Affairs.

Notable cabinet members also include Shivraj Singh Chouhan for Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Subrahmanyam Jaishankar for External Affairs, and Piyush Goyal for Commerce and Industry. Other significant appointments are JD(U) leader Lalan Singh for Panchayati Raj, TDP leader Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu for Civil Aviation, and Chirag Paswan as Sports Minister.
