Fee Hike Notice circulating on social media ‘Fake’: BHU

The university has stated that there is no increase in the fees for any student by the university.

Banaras Hindu University, BHU, has issued a public notice against fake fee hike notice circulating on social media. The University has cautioned students against such misinformation circulating on social media.

BHU issuing a public notice against fake fee hike letter has stated that current students will not be affected by the proposed fee hike for students taking admission now.
BHU notice reads: “It has come to the notice of the BHU administration that such claims are being made in social media and other media that the fees of all the students have been increased by the university. These claims are baseless.

The university has stated that there is no increase in the fees for any student by the university.

“As far as the increase in fees and hostel charges is concerned, this is not a new decision. The decision to partial increase some courses was taken before the academic year 2019-20. The proposed increase is for candidates taking admission in 2022-23. Current students will be unaffected by this proposal,” it reads.

BHU has stated that no increase was implemented in the academic session 2020-21 and 2021-22 to provide relief to the students due to the COVID pandemic. During this, all the students who paid the increased fee are being refunded the difference in fees, the decision which was taken in August 2022 itself.

Banaras Hindu University has appealed to all the students and stakeholders to be aware of the propaganda being done by certain sections in the name of fee hike in the university and to avoid confusion and misinformation being spread about this.

The notice further reads: “Banaras Hindu University is taking new initiatives in this direction, moving forward on the idea of ​​Mahamana for student welfare and their all-round development. The schemes launched in the last few months for the welfare and well being of the students are a reflection of this commitment of the University.”
