JMI completes faculty appointments under ‘mission mode’
The university has so far appointed 161 new members of teaching faculty under the Direct Recruitment category and promoted 372 under Career Advancement Scheme.
Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) has filled up vacant teaching and non-teaching positions on ‘mission mode’. It has so far appointed 161 new members of teaching faculty under the Direct Recruitment category. These members of the teaching faculty were selected through 154 proper selection committees. It seems significant to mention that 53 out of 154 newly appointed members of the teaching faculty are women.
Under Career Advancement Scheme (CAS) and Dynamic Assured Career Progression (DACP) Scheme, 372 existing members of teaching faculty were promoted to the posts of Professors and Associate Professors and 160 Assistant Professors were promoted to Associate Professor (Stage-2 & Stage-3) during the same period. The number of women members of teaching faculty who got promotions under the above categories is 131.
In a statement, the university has stated that even during the Covid-19 pandemic the university conducted online proper selection committees to ensure that the recruitment and promotion process did not get affected.
Until now the university has made 698 appointments, including teaching and non-teaching staff, 33 teachers from Jamia Schools under Direct recruitment and promotion schemes.
JMI Vice Chancellor, Prof. Najma Akhtar said that Jamia has been able to competently select and appoint employees in various categories under mission mode recruitment process. She added that it is the first and foremost duty of the VC to give the university the best members of teaching faculty and non-teaching staff.
