The School of Digital Media and Communication was launched by the chancellor of Mahindra University, Anand Mahindra with a vision to offer conceptual, technical and ethical competencies to the next generation of students.

Mahindra University's Chancellor Anand Mahindra inaugurated the School of Digital Media and Communication (SDMC). The commencement of the School of Digital Media and Communication aims to offer a significant and valuable environment for students to develop conceptual, technical, professional and ethical competencies. Besides, The recently inaugurated School of Digital Media and Communication has announced a new degree programme in Master of Journalism and Mass Communication (MJMC) for the academic year 2025-26.  

During the inauguration ceremony Anand Mahindra, Chancellor of Mahindra University, expressed, "As we continue on our path of rapid growth and expansion, Mahindra University's vision remains focused on nurturing the leaders of tomorrow, who will be innovative thinkers, compassionate citizens, and bold changemakers.”

The infrastructure of the School of Digital Media and Communication includes a fully equipped audiovisual studio with a multi-camera shooting floor, advanced lighting grid and production control room. Besides, the school also have a podcast studio, creator studio, immersive (VR-XR) studio floor, mobile journalism (MoJo) studio, and Apple Lab, along with editing and post-production facilities with industry-standard software applications.

Dr Yajulu Medury, Vice-Chancellor of Mahindra University, shared their delight saying, “We have introduced world-class facilities where students will have access to various professional and technical skills. By integrating advanced technologies with rigorous curricula and our partnerships with global institutions and faculty members, we want to shape professionals who can excel in the global environment."

Life at Mahindra Institute is a little difficult because there is a lot of work pressure and a lot of syllabus, but the faculty is fairly good and supportive and assists students with any problem, whether it is linked to studies or anything else. The college gives students good practical experience, and the college has a good placement rate; they also position students on their campus and offer internship chances to its students. The Mahindra Institute has a high placement rate as well. The college provides good hostel amenities, and the food served in the mess is likewise of high quality. The college's infrastructure is also excellent.
