NIRF Rankings 2022: IIT Madras, IISc, AIIMS, IIM Ahmedabad, Miranda House retain top ranks
Five Delhi University colleges have been ranked among the top 10 colleges in the country. NLSIU, NLU Delhi and SLS Pune top three in NIRF Law Rankings 2022
The Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan today released the seventh edition of the National Institute of Ranking Framework (NIRF) rankings, India Rankings 2022. The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras has once again topped the list in the Overall category, while the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bengaluru is at the second position followed by IIT Bombay.
Among the universities, it is the IISc Bengaluru which has been ranked top in the NIRF Rankings 2022 Universities categories. The IISc is followed by Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) as second another institution from Delhi Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) has been ranked third.

The rankings under various categories remain mostly the same with institutions ranked top in NIRF 2021 retaining their last year’s rank. Miranda House from Delhi is the best college in the country, while AIIMS Delhi has been ranked as the best medical institution in the country.
Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ahmedabad is the top institution in India in the Management category, it is closely followed by IIM Bangalore and IIM Calcutta at second and third position respectively.

Under the Best college category of NIRF Rankings 2022, Miranda House has again topped the list this year. Lady Shri Ram College for Women of Delhi which was ranked second in 2021 has been replaced by Hindu College, Delhi and Loyola College of Chennai has also been replaced by another college from Chennai, Presidency College, ranked at second rank and third rank respectively.
For the past three years, NIRF Rankings are being released in online format owing to the pandemic. In the 2021 NIRF Rankings, IIT Madras was best in the Overall and Engineering categories, while IISc topped the list in University and Research categories. In Management - IIM Ahmedabad was leading the table, while in Medical - All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi (AIIMS New Delhi) was top-ranked. In Law, NLSIU Bengaluru was the top institution.
This year 7254 institutions participated in the NIRF Rankings under various categories.
The annual exercise outlines a methodology to rank Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) across India in various categories & subject domains. The 11 categories are - Overall, Universities, Engineering, Management, Colleges, Pharmacy, Medical, Architecture, Dental, Law and Research.
The institutes are given scores based on – teaching, learning and resources (TLR), research and professional practice (RP), graduation outcomes (GO), outreach and inclusivity (OI), peer perception.
