IIT Madras concludes phase I placements with 1085 job offers

As many as 73 per cent of students who opted for campus placements during 2021-22 have received job offers at the end of phase I. Phase II of placements will begin in the second week of January 2022. 

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras has recorded a historic high in job offers received during phase I of campus placements for the 2021-22 academic year.  As many as 1,085 offers were made by a total of 226 companies during phase I of campus placements, which concluded on December 10, 2021. This includes 45 international offers from 14 companies, which is also a new record high. Further, 62 startup made 186 offers during the phase I process. 

As many as 73 per cent of students who opted for campus placements during 2021-22 have received job offers at the end of phase I. Phase II of placements will begin in the second week of January 2022.

Combined with the 231 pre-placement offers (PPOs), which arise from internships and are made before phase I, the total number of job offers stands at 1,316 at the end of phase I. A total of 1,500 students registered for Phase I placements of 2021-22.  

CS Shankar Ram, Adviser (Placement), IIT Madras, said, “The quality of academic training and the overall development of students during their programme at IIT Madras are reflected in this year’s exceptional phase I placements.” 

A total of 45 international offers were made in the phase I, of which 11 offers came from Rakuten Mobile, Inc. Other international offers came from Glean, Micron Technologies, Honda R&D, Cohesity, Da Vinci Derivatives, Accenture Japan, Hilabs Inc., Quantbox Research, MediaTek, Money Forward, Rubrik, Termgrid and Uber.
