Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Patna is now inviting applications for a free online course called Big Data Computing. The course can be completed in 8 weeks. Though the course is most suited for postgraduate students, anyone who is interested in pursuing the subject can take it up on the SWAYAM NPTEL platform. The course is free of cost, however, those who wish to obtain e-certificates with logos of NPTEL and IIT Patna will have to pay INR 1,000 and will have to appear for the examination on October 29, 2022.
The course will be conducted by Dr Rajiv Misra who is working in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the IIT Patna. Misra has obtained his PhD degree from IIT Kharagpur, MTech degree in computer science and engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, and Bachelor’s of engineering degree in computer science from MNIT Allahabad. His research interests spanned a design of distributed algorithms for mobile, Adhoc and sensor networks, cloud computing and wireless networks.
IIT Patna Free Online Course on Big Data: Eligibility
The course can be pursued by all undergraduate and postgraduate students and practicing engineers and scientists from the diverse fields and interested in learning about the novel cutting edge techniques and applications of big data computing. However, candidates will require to have knowledge in the following subjects:

- Operating system
- Database management systems
