The Indian Institute of Technology, Gandhinagar, (IITGN) has invited applications for its postgraduate programmes in cognitive science and society and culture. The last date to apply for both courses is January 20, 2022.
Cognitive Science is an interdisciplinary field with applications in a number of fields such as medical neuroscience, neural prosthetics, development of artificial intelligent systems and machine learning, behavioural economics and neuromarketing. The objective of the programme is to offer students from different backgrounds, access to a breadth of knowledge and research techniques in a wide range of areas in cognitive science.
Who can apply for IITGN MSc Cognitive Science programme?
- Students who have a bachelor’s degree (e.g. BA, BSc, BTech, BCom, MBBS) in any discipline with a minimum of 55 per cent (5.5 CGPA for students with letter grades/CGPA) aggregate marks for General/OBC category candidates and at least 50 per cent (5.0 CGPA for students with letter grades/CGPA) aggregate marks for SC, ST and PD category candidates in the qualifying degree, can apply.
- Students who would be completing their bachelor’s degree in the current academic year are also eligible to apply.
MA in Society and Culture
The two-year, 80-credits MA program in Society and Culture at IIT Gandhinagar, aims to provide analytical lens and theoretical perspectives in disciplines, including history, culture studies, literature, translation studies, sociology, political science and anthropology. The programme trains graduate students in independent research allowing them to pursue an advanced academic degree (e.g. PhD) and also prepares them for professional careers in journalism, writing, social development sector and public policy.
Admission criteria for MA in Society and Culture at IITGN
Admission to MA in Society and Culture is offered based on entrance test and interview.
- The minimum criterion to apply is a bachelor’s degree in any discipline with a minimum of 55 per cent marks (or equivalent CPI/GPA).
- The students who are awaiting final semester/year results and those who would be completing a bachelor’s degree in the current are also eligible to apply. Eligibility requirements for SC/ST/OBC candidates will be in accordance with the Supreme Court guidelines.
For both courses – MA in Society and Culture and MSc Cognitive Science – an online admission test will be conducted on February 27, 2022 and online interviews will be held between February 28 and March 1, 2022.
