Students of IIT BHU, IIT Roorkee, IIT Bombay and IIT Guwahati receive whopping salary package of INR 2 crore from international companies.

The first day of placement season began on a high note across all Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). IITians have been offered whopping salary packages this year, higher than the preceding academic years.

At IIT BHU, a student has been offered a whopping salary package of INR 2 crore by a US-based company, whereas an IIT Roorkee student has received a job offer of INR 2.15 crore per annum from an international tech firm. Similarly, an IIT Bombay and an IIT Guwahati student have been offered USD 2.74 lakh per annum (around INR 2.05 crore per annum) from Uber.

Domestic package hits all-time high

Not only this, the highest domestic salary package also hit an all-time high at INR 1.8 crore. Investment management company Millennium offered IITians a package of INR 62 lakh in the first slot, while WorldQuant offered INR 52.7 lakh and Blackstone INR 46.6 lakh. Three students received domestic offers ranging between INR 1.30 crore and INR 1.8 crore.

Top recruiters

Major recruiters for domestic roles were Microsoft, Qualcomm, Google, Boston Consulting Group, Airbus, Amazon, Apple, APT Portfolio Private Limited, Bajaj Auto Limited, whereas top recruiters for international roles were Uber and Rubrik.

IITs have also received record pre-placement offers (PPOs) this year. IITs in Chennai, Kanpur, Roorkee, Guwahati, Mandi and Jodhpur have already seen a 22-55 per cent increase in PPOs as compared to last year and 2019.

Like last year, placement interviews will be held online. “Many organisations have registered with the placement office with an intent to hire IIT Delhi graduates. There is an increasing registration for profiles related to data science, artificial intelligence and machine learning in addition to traditional profiles,” said a spokesperson at IIT Delhi.
