The Women and Child Development Ministry in partnership with the Education Ministry has launched the Kanya Shiksha Pravesh Utsav scheme.
Kanya Shiksha Pravesh Utsav Scheme: On the occasion of International Women's Day, i.e. March 8, 2022, the union government launched the ‘Kanya Shiksha Pravesh Utsav’ scheme with an aim to bring the out-of-school girls back into the education system. The Women and Child Development Ministry in partnership with the Education Ministry has launched the Kanya Shiksha Pravesh Utsav scheme. According to the data released by Women and Child Development Secretary Indevar Pandey, only four lakh out-of-school adolescent girls are visiting Anganwadis for nutrition, nutrition education, and skilling.
Scheme to fulfill Right to Education Act
The scheme will fulfill the target of the Right to Education Act which works on bringing out-of-school girls back into the system. Pandey has also expressed his hope and stated that the department is working towards attaining a strong position soon and bringing all the girls back to the formal school system.
Providing quality education to both boys and girls is the main focus of the department. the Women and Child Development Ministry Secretary informed that the department is making conscious efforts to ensure that no child, especially girls are deprived of their right to education.
Programmes offered for adolescent girls
The department also conducts various Anganwadi system-driven programmes along with education officers at district and block levels for out-of-school adolescent girls.
According to an official statement, the scheme has been launched as the ‘Scheme for Adolescent Girls’ - SAG which was launched to take care of out-of-school girls but is less effective at the moment.
